San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park

For Mark's birthday we took the family to the zoo! Since Mark LOVES animals we thought it was the perfect place to take him.

One of the coolest displays at the zoo was the insect house. It was awesome! Here is a picture of a leaf bug

The kids loved the peacocks that roamed freely around the park.
We were lucky enough to have my parents join us!

I couldn't believe how cute the koalas were!

We have these same owls around our house. We see them from time to time in our front yard. They are desert burrowing owls.

I didn't like how that cheetah was looking at my boys!!!

I was thinking that too. Your camera is doing an awesome job. I have to tell you we had the same experience with one of the cheetahs. I thought it was funny at first how one was pacing along with me up and down the length of its enclosure ( I was holding Claire who was probably 1 1/2). Anyway I'm telling everyone look at the cheetah following me up and down and I thought it was so neat until it dawned on me that it was probably looking at Claire or even both of us as prey. I started to think about those zoo "horror stories" and thougt perhaps if motivated enough the cheetah might really make a move and who knows. I wasn't going to test that out so I suggested to the family that we move along and we did and the cheetah watched us the whole way.

That is cool that you guys went to Sunny San Diego for Mark's birthday! I admit that I noticed the pictures too, they look great! I was just telling Ian that I want a nice camera, but they cost so much that I don't know if I could justify it, but seeing your pictures makes me want one...great job on the photography skills.
